Description Psychological First Aid for Schools (PFA-S) is an evidence-based model designed to help students, families, and school staff cope with the immediate aftermath of emergencies. It aims to reduce distress and promote both short- and long-term coping and functioning. PFA-S is based on five core principles: evidence-based practices, respect for school culture and behavior, practicality in field settings, developmental appropriateness, and cultural flexibility. By addressing a range of physical, cognitive, and emotional reactions, PFA-S provides supportive interventions that can prevent the development of more severe mental health issues and connect individuals to further services if needed.
