DescriptionThis 6-session series is intentionally designed to first build a strong foundation and then progressively add skills through interactive activities. Each week, participants will have meaningful opportunities to apply these skills in the classroom and return to discuss questions and any barriers to learning.

August 7: From Reaction to Response: Understanding the Brain Behind Behavior

In the first session, participants will gain a practical understanding of neuroscience that breaks the behavior code and develops an adult first mindset approach to challenging behaviors. Topics will include brain states, composure and creating spaces where children feel safe.

August 21: Practicing Presence: Attention, Intent, and Assertiveness in Action

Session two will build on this information and focus on the skills of attention, positive intent and assertiveness. Participants will leave with practical tools for the classroom.

September 4: Behavior by Design: The Impact of Visual Routines

Session three is all about visuals from basic classroom routines to behavior supports and social stories, participants will learn practical ways to use visuals to support learning and prevent and manage difficult behaviors in the classroom.

September 18: Connection Leads to Compliance

In session four, participants will dive into the power of creating meaningful connections and leave with fresh ideas to implement. We will also introduce the power of leading with empathy in all interactions.

October 2: Confident Responses to Big Emotions and Difficult Behaviors

The first 4 sessions lay the foundation for creating consistent, predictable environments in which children feel safe, seen and valued, but young children have big emotions. In session 5 we will add to our toolbox with practical principles and tools to use when challenging behaviors come. Session five we cover teaching moments, choices, consequences, and how to combat tattling. We will use real examples with real language to create teachers who are confident in the face of big emotions.

October 16:Tackling the Tough Ones

Session 6 we will put it all together and tackle difficult temperaments, biting, and noncompliance.
